Jon Harmening

The Dakota Wesleyan University Tiger Athlete of the Week is junior Jon Harmening, it was announced by the DWU athletic department Wednesday.

Harmening competed in just his third meet of his collegiate career and notched three top-ten finishes at the Dennis Young Classic on Friday and Saturday. His best finish of the weekend came during the 4x200-meter relay where his team placed fourth with a time of 1:35.18. In the 4x400-meter relay, he placed fifth in 3:32.74. Harmening finished the day with a seventh place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.13.

On Jan. 20, Harmening competed in the SDSU DII Invite. In his second meet of the season, he finished ninth in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:30.61. Next, he moved to the field events where he added an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 12.68 meters.

Harmening and the Tigers will compete in the DWU Alumni Open on Saturday in Mitchell, S.D.
