In the quarterfinals of the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament Feb. 22, Osthus (De Smet, S.D.) netted 11 points, snagged seven rebounds and dished out six assists as the Tigers defeated Briar Cliff University, 94-60. In the semifinal matchup against Doane University on Saturday she finished with a career-high 22 points. Osthus finished 7-of-10 from the field including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Following the 81-57 victory against Doane, the Tigers squared off against No. 2 Concordia University in the GPAC championship game last night. In the championship game, Oshtus finished with 21 points, one point shy of tying her career-high. She shot 4-of-6 from 3-point range and 6-of-12 from the field. The effort from the sophomore guard was not enough as the Tigers fell, 78-77 in overtime.
Osthus leads the team with 4.7 assists per game and 1.4 steals per game. She ranks sixth in the NAIA in total assists with 150 and 12th in assists per game. She is currently third on the team averaging 10.5 points per game.
The Tigers first-round opponent will be revealed during the NAIA Selection Show later today. The national tournament begins March 8 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
