On Feb. 8, Martin finished with 11 points and seven assists in a 106-80 defeat on the road against Briar Cliff University. He came home to have a career night against Concordia University on Sunday. The Mitchell, S.D., native took over as he scored 10-straight points for the Tigers down the stretch to force overtime. Martin also scored the first four points of overtime for DWU.
He finished with a double-double and a career-high 35 points and dished out 12 assists. He also finished 4-of-7 from 3-point range and 14-of-21 shooting overall in the contest. However, the hot shooting by Martin was not enough as the Tigers fell to the Bulldogs, 109-106.
The 5-foot-11 guard leads the team in assists with 9.1 per game and is second in the NAIA in total assists with 263, assists per game at 9.1 and fifth nationally in assist/turnover ratio at 3.6. Martin currently holds the school record for most assists in a season with 259 and most assists in a career with 805. He also sits at 36th on the DWU all-time scoring list with 1,204 total points in his career.
Martin will be recognized on Senior Night as the No. 7 Tigers host the No. 20 Northwestern College Red Raiders at 8 p.m. tonight at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D.
