DWU Athletics recognizes student-athletes at annual banquet

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University athletics department held its annual Student-Athlete Recognition Banquet on Saturday in the Sherman Center on the campus of DWU in Mitchell, S.D.
After opening remarks from President Amy Novak and Athletic Director Jon Hart, seniors Tate Martin (Mitchell, S.D.) and Lorissa Loeppky (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) gave the senior-athlete address.
Following the address, Tim Smith awarded Erica Herrold (Dimock, S.D.) the KMIT Award for outstanding excellence on and off the court. The Cheever Award was presented to Andrew Schwader (Howard, S.D.) and Adam Bormann (Stickney, S.D.) was awarded the Matthew D. Smith Award.
In all, six NAIA All-Americans were recognized, including 75 DWU Scholar-Athletes and 28 NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athletes.
The night ended with keynote speaker Terry Nebelsick '78 of Huron, S.D., addressing the student-athletes and parents.
