Bio

Dakota Wesleyan University '16

A recent graduate of Dakota Wesleyan, Mills was named the director of sports information on July 1, 2017 after spending 10 months as the interim.

He is responsible for maintaining the award-winning DWU Athletics website, while creating digital media content for all 15 varsity sports. At DWU, he supervises four student workers and a graduate assistant, while serving as the media contact for each sport. He is also responsible for the creation of four media guides and all photography efforts at most home events. Mills also creates gameday graphics and is the offical scorer for every home event at the Corn Palace, Christen Family Athletic Center, the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex and Cadwell Park. He also coordinates interviews, oversees the production of print materials, maintaining statistical information and provides gameday support.

Previously, Mills served as an intern during his junior and senior year in the SID office at DWU, working on game-day material, media guides, stating various sports and press releases. While at DWU, Mills graduated with double majors in journalism and communications and participated in baseball.

During his college career, Mills interned with the Sioux Falls Canaries, a professional independent baseball club in Sioux Falls, S.D., as a media and marketing intern. He also worked as a part-time sports reporter for the Mitchell Daily Republic and as a marketing reporter for DWU.

Two years ago, Mills interned with the NCAA and The Summit League as a media liaison for the NCAA Women's Basketball Regional held in Sioux Falls, S.D.

In his free time, Mills enjoys public address announcing. He has announced games at all levels, including the Mike Miller Classic, the Class 'A' State Legion Baseball tournament, including many DWU varsity volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball and baseball games. You may also see him on the ball diamond during the summer umpiring all levels of baseball throughout South Dakota and Nebraska as he is a member of Premier Sports Officials Association and is a certified American Legion umpire.

A former resident of Norfolk, Neb., and alumnus of Norfolk Catholic High School, Mills now lives in Mitchell and is completing his Master's degree in educational policy and administration from DWU.
