Kyle Hobbs begins his eighth full school year as the strength and conditioning coach at Dakota Wesleyan University in 2020-21.  Hobbs joined the athletic department staff in November 2013 and immediately took over designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for all interested athletic programs at DWU.

Hobbs helped oversee the renovation of the DWU weight room during the summer of 2015.  After the completion of the project, the weight room has provided the Tigers with a modern environment for training year-round under the guidance of Hobbs and his staff.

Hobbs came to Dakota Wesleyan after more than two years as the strength and conditioning assistant coach at the University of Delaware.  He designed and implemented all aspects of strength and conditioning for men’s lacrosse, baseball and women’s soccer.  He was also the first assistant for the Delaware football strength and conditioning program.

Before his work in Delaware, Hobbs spent two seasons as the football strength and conditioning graduate assistant at the University of Georgia.  He designed and implemented an in-season strength program for the developmental football squad, implemented meal plans and was responsible for proper orientation of lift techniques for first-year players.

Hobbs was also a strength and conditioning intern for the University of Nebraska football team from January to May 2009, and he served as a student assistant strength coach for Olympic sports at Iowa State University from October 2006 to January 2009.

He graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor of science and majors in kinesiology and health sciences in May 2009.  Hobbs received his master’s degree in education from the University of Georgia in May 2011.

He lives in Mitchell with his wife, Ashley, and their three children, Nora, Sullivan and Cullen.
