Bio

Lana Loken has been a member of the Dakota Wesleyan University athletic training staff since 2001 and is the clinical education coordinator of the athletic training major, as well as an assistant athletic trainer with Tiger athletics. She assumed this role in 2002, after one year as the head athletic trainer and instructor at DWU. Her primary athletic training coverage responsibility includes the volleyball team.

Loken, a native of Madison, S.D., earned a doctoral degree in educational administration from the University of South Dakota with an emphasis in adult and higher education. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree with honors in athletic training from South Dakota State University and received her Master of Science degree in sport management from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minn.

Before joining the staff at DWU, Lana worked as a certified athletic trainer at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wisconsin from 1999 to 2001, primarily providing services to local high schools and conducting summer conditioning and coach clinics. She also worked as a certified athletic trainer for the Gold Medal Gymnastic Club in Brookings in 1998 and 1999, and was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University while attending St. Cloud State University.

She holds memberships and is an active committee member in several areas within the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the South Dakota Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Mid-American Athletic Trainers’ Association, and is also a certified American Safety and Health Institute instructor.

Loken and her family live in Mitchell.
