DWU baseball picks up two wins in final three days at Tucson Invitational
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team added two wins to its win column while on its annual spring break trip, competing in the Tucson Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team added two wins to its win column while on its annual spring break trip, competing in the Tucson Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
On Wednesday, the Tigers dropped a 15-4 decision to Waldorf University, despite leading by four until the fifth inning. Senior Tyler Waddle (Huron, S.D.) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Newcomer Reed Harter (Colome, S.D.) added a double in the loss. Nolan Woodard (Billings, Mont.) was tagged with the loss, allowing six runs on six hits while not recording an out.
The Tigers took on future Great Plains Athletic Conference member, the University of Jamestown, dropping Game One, 7-1. Five Tiger batters each recorded a hit in the loss. Senior Patrick Whetham (Garretson, S.D.) took the loss after throwing six innings, allowing six runs on 13 hits, while striking out three and walking one. In Game Two, the Tigers downed the Jimmies 6-1 backed by a solid outing from freshman Dominique Boerger (Milbank, S.D.). Boerger tossed five and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on four hits, while striking out five and walking one. Seniors Tramane Moore (Los Banos, Calif.), Jared Neilan (Pierre, S.D.) and Waddle tallied a home run. Moore went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Harter also went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
On the final day, DWU split with Valley City State University, taking Game One 3-2. Senior Steven Somerville (Ajax, Toronto, Canada) tossed all seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, while striking out six and not walking a batter. Moore went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a run.
The Tigers dropped Game Two 10-2, after giving up 10 runs in five innings. Hartman Katz (Huron, S.D.) was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Dillon Campbell (Ashland, Neb.) took the loss on the mound after throwing three innings, allowing two runs on five hits and one strikeout.
DWU (5-10) returns to action against Mayville State University for its home opener on March 22 with the time to be announced at a later date.
