Tigers fall to Mustangs in Sioux City
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team headed east to take on Great Plains Athletic Conference foe, Morningside College for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. DWU lost Game One, 12-2, and fell in Game Two, 13-6 in Sioux City, Iowa.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team headed east to take on Great Plains Athletic Conference foe, Morningside College for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. DWU lost Game One, 12-2, and fell in Game Two, 13-6 in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Tigers (15-23, 10-10 GPAC) scored first after Jared Neilan (Pierre, S.D.) doubled to right center in the top of the first inning.
The Mustangs (29-18, 14-8 GPAC) answered with a seven-run second inning. DWU plated another run in the fourth when Tyler Waddle (Huron, S.D.) singled to left field.
However, Morningside added five runs in the next two innings to take Game One from the Tigers.
Waddle finished 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, while Neilan went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Waddle started on the mound, tossing two innings and allowed seven runs off four hits. Gavin Reichmuth (Chandler, Ariz.) pitched two and a third innings, allowing three runs before being relieved by Dillon Campbell (Ashland, Neb.) who pitched one and two-third innings and gave up two runs.
Game Two saw DWU on the scoreboard first as the Tigers notched two runs in the first inning. Morningside took the lead in the third after adding two runs to take the 3-2 lead.
DWU regained the lead after bringing three runs home in the fifth. However, the Mustangs tallied three runs in the sixth inning, four in the seventh and three in the eighth to keep DWU at bay.
The Tigers take on Morningside College at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Sioux City, Iowa.
