Tigers drop a pair to Concordia
MITCHELL, S.D. – With the Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason next week, the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team hosted Concordia University in a critical doubleheader Friday night. DWU lost 9-0 in Game One, and 3-1 in Game Two at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D.

MITCHELL, S.D. – With the Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason next week, the Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team hosted Concordia University in a critical doubleheader Friday night. DWU lost 9-0 in Game One, and 3-1 in Game Two at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D.
The Bulldogs (29-18, 18-8 GPAC) struck first with a run in the first inning and never looked back in Game One. They added four runs in the second inning and two runs in the third and fourth innings. The Tigers (16-28, 11-15 GPAC) offense struggled to find their rhythm as they totaled two hits in the contest.
Tyler Waddle (Huron, S.D.) went 1-for-2 while Tramane Moore (Los Banos, Calif.) finished 1-for-2. Freshman Dominique Boerger (Milbank, S.D.) took the loss after pitching three innings and allowing eight hits and six earned runs. Gavin Reichmuth (Chandler, Ariz.) took the mound for two innings and struck out two batters while Dillon Campbell (Ashland, Neb.) finished Game One on the mound after pitching two innings and striking out two.
Game Two started with the Tigers on the board first in the bottom of the second when Reed Harter (Colome, S.D.) singled to left field to bring home the only run of the night. The Bulldogs added a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to put DWU away.
Harter went 1-for-3 with an RBI while Moore went 1-for-3 with a run. Senior Patrick Whetham (Garretson, S.D.) struck out a career-high 12 batters in eight innings while allowing three earned runs on nine hits. Brody Kunzmann (Sioux Falls, S.D.) took the mound in the ninth inning and struck out one batter.
The Tigers finish the regular season against the Bulldogs at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, S.D., as they recognize 13 seniors on Senior Day.
