Livingston named GPAC Special Teams POTW after strong outing

MITCHELL, S.D. – The No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan University football team rebounded from a week one loss, topping No. 8 Tabor College 35-21 Saturday at Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell, S.D. The Tigers were led by senior wide receiver Dustin Livingston in the win, as he propelled his team in the receiving game, as well as with his punt returns.

Livingston, an Irene, S.D., native, caught six passes for 134 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. He added another touchdown catch in the second quarter, helping DWU pull away for the win. He was the favorite target for quarterback Dillon Turner (Salem, Ark.), as junior wide receiver Hayden Adams (Villa Park, Ill.) was sidelined for the contest.

Livingston also electrified the crowd with his punt returns. Early in the fourth quarter, Livingston muffed a punt, quickly picked the ball off the turf and sprinted 46 yards down the sideline for a score to secure the win. He finished with five punt returns for 105 yards and a score, while adding a kickoff return for 21 yards.

For his efforts, Livingston has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Monday. The award is the second such for Livingston in his career.

With his 134 yards receiving, Livingston moved into sixth on the DWU all-time receiving yards list with 1,302.

The Tigers look to continue their momentum when they hit the road for the first time this season against the University of Jamestown at 1 p.m. Saturday in Jamestown, N.D.
