Four members to be inducted into DWU Athletic Hall of Fame
MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University is proud to announce Gerald Neumann (’68), Chris Determan (’98), Brady Wiebe (’11) and Danielle Bellett Evenson (’12) on being selected into the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2018.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University is proud to announce Gerald Neumann ('68), Chris Determan ('98), Brady Wiebe ('11) and Danielle Bellett Evenson ('12) on being selected into the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2018.
Neumann was a four-year starter on the offensive and defensive line for the DWU football team, as well as a leader on special teams all four years. He was also a member of the tennis team during the 1965 season. Nuemann was a member of the Sigma Tau Delta English Fraternity, while being the Sports Editor of the yearbook during his last year on campus.
Determan was a three-time All-Conference member and was named Conference MVP in football. During his four-year span, he guided the Tigers to a record of 28-13, while helping DWU win three conference championships. Determan ranks ninth in program history in career rushing yards, eighth in career passing yards and fourth in career total yards.
Weibe was a three-time First Team All-GPAC selection, three-time NAIA All-American and the GPAC Player of the Year during the 2010-2011 season. He ranks fifth in school history with 2,052 career points and tallied 1,097 career rebounds. Weibe helped the Tigers win at least 24 games in four-straight seasons, secure four national tournament births, clinch the GPAC regular season and postseason titles and hold a record of 101-33.
Evenson was a four-time GPAC Player of the Year in women's golf, winning 33 of 58 individual tournament victories. During her career, Evenson was named GPAC Golfer of the Week 21 different times and honored as an All-GPAC Performer all four years. In 2011 and 2012 she was named First Team All-American, while being the runner up at the 2011 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet begins at 6 p.m. on April 28 in the Sherman Center on the DWU campus in Mitchell, S.D.
