Bergh earns CoSIDA academic honors
MITCHELL, S.D. – Trae Bergh has had an exceptional sophomore year on the basketball court so far in 2013-14, and Thursday afternoon he was honored for his work in the classroom as well.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Trae Bergh has had an exceptional sophomore year on the basketball court so far in 2013-14, and Thursday afternoon he was honored for his work in the classroom as well.
Bergh, a guard on the Dakota Wesleyan University men's basketball team, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 in the college division. He was one of five players – all from the Great Plains Athletic Conference – to be honored in District 3.
Bergh, an athletic training major with a 4.0 GPA, has started in 22 of the Tigers' 23 games so far this season. He is third on the team in scoring at 15 points per game, and also averages 4.7 rebounds per game. He leads the team with 78 3-pointers and is shooting .431 from long range.
The Crooks, S.D. native is currently fourth in the NAIA in total threes made with 78, sixth in threes per game (3.3) and 10th in assist/turnover ratio (3.5). He was named the GPAC player of the week earlier this season, and tied the school record for threes in a game with 10 in DWU's first game of the year.
Bergh and the Tigers are on the road Saturday, Feb. 1, when they travel to Crete, Neb., to take on Doane College at 4 p.m.
