Sioux Falls Lincoln senior Kaleb Johnson signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Tiger coach Matt Wilber on Wednesday, giving DWU a shooter with size to add to the team starting in 2015-16.
"We are excited to add Kaleb to our DWU family," Wilber said about signing Johnson. "We are always looking for players and people who fit our culture here at DWU and we are confident that Kaleb definitely fits us. He will be a very good teammate and will fit into our basketball system with his skill set. "
Johnson is heading into his final season with a Lincoln team that went 13-13 overall in 2013-14 and finished runner up at the South Dakota Class AA State Tournament. Johnson finished his junior season averaging 12.7 points and 3.1 assists per game.
Wilber's relationship with Johnson goes back to the coach's days before coming to DWU. Wilber worked with Johnson at the TIBBS basketball academy in Sioux Falls.
"It is also special to me on a personal note to be adding Kaleb to our program, as I have known him since he was a 5th grader when we would work with him at our TIBBS academy for basketball workouts," Wilber said. "It's exciting for me to be a part of a full-circle process of young man's basketball career."
