DWU basketball to host 10th annual DWU/Culver’s Classic

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University athletic department is pleased to announce the teams that will be competing in the 10th annual DWU/Culver’s Classic on Friday Feb. 8 and Saturday Feb. 9 at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University athletic department is pleased to announce the teams that will be competing in the 10^th annual DWU/Culver's Classic on Friday Feb. 8 and Saturday Feb. 9 at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Beginning the Classic on Friday will be Burke/South Central vs. Bridgewater Emery at 1 p.m., followed by a 2:30 p.m. tip-off between McCook Central/Montrose vs. Pine Ridge. At 4 p.m., Hanson takes on Corsica-Stickney, as De Smet and Howard play each other at 5:30 p.m. New to this year's classic will be a Class 'AA' showdown between Mitchell and Harrisburg scheduled for 7 p.m. The finale pits Avon vs. Tripp-Delmont/Armour at 8:30 p.m.

"We are greatly thrilled to be hosting the 10th Annual DWU/Culver's Classic," DWU Athletic Director Jon Hart said. "None of this would be possible without the help of our generous sponsors and supporting communities. These two days are going to feature some notable matchups and some of the best teams and players in the state."

The boys' segment will begin on Saturday Feb. 9. The teams in the event include 11 teams from Class 'B' and seven teams from Class 'A'. The teams are listed below in no particular order, beginning with the Class 'A' schools: Dell Rapids, Platte-Geddes, Parker, Sioux Falls Christian, St. Thomas More, Aberdeen Roncalli and Pine Ridge. The Class 'B' teams consist of Bridgewater Emery, White River, Hanson, Irene-Wakonda, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, Aberdeen Christian, De Smet, Canistota, Dell Rapids St. Mary, Freeman Academy/Marion and Corsica-Stickney.

Girls Matchups:

1 p.m. - Burke/South Central vs. Bridgewater Emery

2:30 p.m. - McCook Central/Montrose vs. Pine Ridge

4 p.m. - Hanson vs. Corsica-Stickney

5:30 p.m. – De Smet vs. Howard

7:00 p.m. - Mitchell vs. Harrisburg

8:30 p.m. - Avon vs. Tripp-Delmont/Armour
