No. 8 Chargers slip past (RV) Tigers
SIOUX CITY, Iowa. – The (RV) Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team dropped its’ first road contest of the season to No. 8 Briar Cliff University, 94-90 in Great Plains Athletic Conference action Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Tigers (7-3, 3-3 GPAC) jumped out to a quick 7-3 lead following a Collin Kramer (Volga, S.D..) jump shot.
After the Chargers (8-1, 5-1 GPAC) took the lead, Nick Harden (Chicago, Ill.) connected on a two-point basket to give DWU the lead, 13-12.
Both teams traded baskets midway through the first half until Harden knocked down another basket to give the Tigers a 33-31 lead. Briar Cliff finished the first half on a run as they held a 46-44 lead at halftime.
In the second half, DWU began to take control after holding a 55-53 lead with 15:04 left in the contest. Minutes later, Sam McCloud (Rapid City, S.D.) nailed a deep 3-point shot to give the Tigers a 65-61 lead.
With 4:30 left to play, DWU held a 79-75 lead. Junior guard Ty Hoglund (Dell Rapids, S.D.) connected on a 3-pointer of his own to extend the lead moments later. However, Briar Cliff came storming back down the stretch to steal the game from DWU.
Hoglund tallied 23 points, while Kramer added 18 points and nine rebounds. Harden and McCloud notched 14 points apiece, as the Tigers shot 44 percent from the field and 36 percent from 3-point range. DWU also finished the game with 29 total rebounds and 12 steals.
The Tigers take on GPAC rival Mount Marty College at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Yankton, S.D.
