DWU MEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS CONTEST TO SAINTS AT HERITAGE COURT

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball could not overcome the 10-2 Presentation run towards the end of regulation. DWU turned the ball over 21 times, while only forcing 12 turnovers from the Saints.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Dakota Wesleyan fell behind right away against the Saints but, after; eight minutes of play, the Tigers were up 13-12 after Alan Kikwaki got his shot to fall.
  • After DWU took the one-point lead, they continued expanding it and with seven and a half minutes left in the first half, DWU was up by five.
  • Both the Tigers and the Saints went over three minutes without scoring a point.
  • Once the scoring drought was over, it was back to DWU and PC matching basket-for-basket as they kept their five-point lead heading into intermission.
  • The Tigers outshot the Saints in the first half 54.6% to 46.2% from the field and 54.5% to 50.0% from beyond the arc.
  • A slow second-half start stung the Tigers as their 35-30 lead quickly diminished to a one-point lead after a minute of game time.
  • With nine and a half minutes remaining, Coach Wilber and Company were in a hole 44-50 after a Saint's three-pointer.
  • After that point, the Tigers never regained the lead or tied the game as they fall 64-55 to the Saints in the Sanford Pentagon.
  • Dakota Wesleyan was outshot 48.1% to 43.8% from the floor and 44.4% to 33.3% from beyond the arc.
  • The Tigers outrebounded the Saints 31-28.
  • DWU did not tally a steal in the game but notched 12 points off turnovers.
  • The Tigers bench outscored the Saints bench 29-16.

  • Alan Kikwaki: 14 points, 57.1 FG%, 2-for-2 beyond the arc, 66.7 FT%, and one block
  • Nick Wittler: 13 points, 45.5 FG%, 33.3 3PT%
