Orange City, Iowa – Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball held their largest lead of six points after six minutes into the first half as they stumble in the first game of 2022.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers got off to a fast start at a 5-0 lead after Mason Larson and Jeffrey Schuch hit back-to-back shots.
- Larson garnered DWU their largest lead of the game at 10-4 after hitting a shot from beyond the arc.
- Just nine minutes in, the Red Raiders climbed back to tie the game at 10-10.
- From the time Dakota Wesleyan had their largest lead of the game with 13:53 left, DWU was held scoreless until the 5:56 mark of the opening half as they were down by eight points, 20-12.
- Northwestern continued to make shots down the stretch of the first half, as the Tigers trailed by nine at the break.
- Through the first 20-minutes of play, DWU shot 30% from the field, 42.9% beyond the arc, and missed both free throw attempts.
- Starting the second half in Orange City, the Red Raiders quickly pushed their lead back out to 13 before Larson hit a shot from distance to cut the lead to ten.
- The Tigers kept trying to crawl their way back into the game as Sawyer Schultz made a three-point shot and closed the NWC lead to seven.
- With just over eight minutes remaining in the game DWU was within two points of tying the game, as Koln Oppold made a layup cutting the lead to 49-47.
- Teegan Evers got in on the scoring action with 5:05 left in the game, cutting the Northwestern lead back to four points after making a free throw.
- The last shot of the game for Dakota Wesleyan was off the hands of Schultz as the Tigers fall, 69-58, to the Red Raiders.
- In the game, DWU shot 41.5% from the floor, 53.3% beyond the arc, and 42.9% at the foul line.
- Dakota Wesleyan allowed NWC to shoot 54% from the field while holding their three-point shooting to only 26.7%.
