DWU men take fourth at Northwestern College Match Play
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s golf team competed in the Northwestern College Match Play where they brought home a fourth-place finish at the Landsmeer Golf Club Monday and Tuesday in Orange City, Iowa.
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team competed in the Northwestern College Match Play where they brought home a fourth-place finish at the Landsmeer Golf Club Monday and Tuesday in Orange City, Iowa.
In the first round, DWU defeated Doane University 4-1. Tom Hogg (Aberdeen, S.D.), Michael Whitney (Brandon, S.D.), Cal Wiese (Fedora, S.D.) and Russell Pick (Kimball, S.D.) each defeated their opponent while freshman Connor Preston (Aberdeen, S.D.) lost his first round matchup.
DWU and Morningside College squared off in the second round. The Mustangs defeated the Tigers, 3-2. Whitney and Wiese won their matchups while Hogg, Preston and Pick were defeated.
In the final round, the Tigers faced Midland University for the third-place matchup. Preston and Wiese came away victorious. DWU took fourth after falling to Midland, 3-2.
The men's golf team will compete in the GPAC Qualifier April 24 at the Woodland Hills Golf Course in Eagle, Neb.
