DWU women golf take first at Bethany Invite
MCPHERSON, Kan. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s golf team began the spring season getting right to work as they grabbed a first-place finish, while the DWU men’s golf team took sixth place at the Bethany Invite in McPherson, Kan.

As a team, the DWU women finished with 351 strokes, while Grand View University finished with 352 strokes, giving the Tigers the victory by one stroke. Skyler Brunk (Lee's Summit, Mo.) tied for second individually after carding an 81.
Niki Nelson (Platte, S.D.) grabbed a fifth-place finish after recording an 86, while Brooke Ehlers (Worthing, S.D.) came in sixth with an 88. Madison VanWalleghen (Letcher, S.D.) finished with a 96, tied for 13th and Emily Sharkey (Upton, Wyo.) came in 30th after carding a 110.
For the men, Russell Pick (Kimball, S.D.) led the way after notching an 83, tied for 15th, as Justice Morrison (Norris, S.D.) and Jayden Engels (Watertown, S.D.) tied for 38th with an 89. Cade Carpenter (Mitchell, S.D.) tied for 42nd with a 90, while Jamie McGowan (White River, S.D.) carded a 110, good for 75th.
The women will compete in the CSM/Midland Invite on April 5 and 6 in Omaha and Fremont, Neb. The men will be back in action at the Doane Invite on March 30 and 31 in Lincoln and Crete, Neb.
