Reiner and Kerkman sign with DWU golf
MITCHELL, S.D. – Two standout talents have signed with the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s golf team in Drew Reiner and Bryce Kerkman for the 2018-2019 season, head golf coach Tom Hoek announced Monday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – Two standout talents have signed with the Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team in Drew Reiner and Bryce Kerkman for the 2018-2019 season, head golf coach Tom Hoek announced Monday.
Reiner notched a top-three finish at the state golf tournament in third place, after carding a 74. He finished with an average stroke of 80. The Sioux Falls, S.D., native was named Most Improved and All-State for his accomplishments on the course. Along with golf, Reiner also participated in baseball for two years.
He is the son of Jennifer and Brian Reiner and plans to major in business.
"Drew is a fantastic young man and has really worked on his game and shown tremendous growth," Hoek commented. "We look for him to continue to grow as a player by adding depth and a competitive edge to our men's program."
Kerkman finished his junior season with an average stroke of 78. The Atkinson, Neb., native was named to the Class D1 District Seven All-District Team in 2016 and 2017, while guiding his team to a state championship in 2017.
He was also tabbed as NVC All-Conference from 2015-2017. Kerkman was also honored as a member of the Local County News Winter Sports Team in 2017 and the NVC All-Academic Team in the same season. The standout athlete also participated in football and basketball for four seasons.
"Bryce has an incredibly strong athletic and academic background," Hoek said. "He is very humble in what he has accomplished thus far in his career and we see bigger and brighter things in his future here at Dakota Wesleyan."
He is the son of Brenda and Keith Kerkman and plans to major in accounting.
