Dakota Wesleyan tallies a pair of third-place finishes, three individuals finish in top-10

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s golf teams both secured third-place finishes, including three top-10 individual performances after contending against eight teams at the Hardrocker Spring Invite on Monday and Tuesday at the Arrowhead Country Club in Rapid City, S.D.

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's golf teams both secured third-place finishes, including three top-10 individual performances after contending against eight teams at the Hardrocker Spring Invite on Monday and Tuesday at the Arrowhead Country Club in Rapid City, S.D.

 On the women's side, Dakota Wesleyan finished just three strokes out from second place with a team score of 703 and was paced by Megan Hinker (Lennox, S.D.) and Ashley Zimmer (Mitchell, S.D.). The junior duo both finished in a tie for seventh place. Hinker, who posted an 83 in the opening round, concluded the second day with a score of 89. Meanwhile, Zimmer responded with an 84 in her final round after she hit an 88 in the first round of competition.

 Just outside the top-10, Ronae Klein (Winner, S.D.) accumulated a score of 180 which was good enough for a 12th-place finish. Rounding out the DWU team score was fellow Tigers Erin Moncur (Miller, S.D.) and Jayden Bormann (Parkston, S.D.) who finished in a tie for 16th as the duo recorded a score of 185.

 The Dakota Wesleyan men's team ended the competition just five strokes off of second place with a team score of 623. Tiger senior Tony Hayes (Sioux Falls, S.D.) led DWU after finishing in a tie for sixth place. Hayes erased three strokes and earned a score of 75 in his final round of competition following a 78 in the first round.

 Devan Weelborg (Bryant, S.D.) and Cade Carpenter (Mitchell, S.D.) placed in the top-15 with scores of 156 and 158, respectively. After the final round, Weelborg found himself in a tie for 12th while Carpenter sat in a tie for 15th place. Bennett Lundy (Aberdeen, S.D.) and Jack Brinkman (Jackson, Minn.), who also competed for the Tigers, concluded the overall team scoring by finishing in a tie for 17th and 31st, respectively.

 The Dakota Wesleyan women's team takes the course at the Dordt Invite on Thursday and Friday from The Ridge in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Tiger men will return to action next at the Briar Cliff Invite on Monday and Tuesday at the Dakota Dunes Country Club & Two Rivers Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa.
