Tiger men end season with loss to Broncos in GPAC Playoffs

HASTINGS, Neb. – The 2014 men's soccer season came to an end for the Dakota Wesleyan University Tigers after a loss to No. 11 Hastings College in the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference playoffs Thursday in Hastings, Neb.

The Broncos outshot the Tigers 28-2 in the 4-0 win, while putting 14 shots on net compared to two for DWU.

Hastings got on the board in the 29th minute on a goal from Marc Tautz, while Jake Ramsey made it 2-0 just over one minute later.

Scott Johnston scored early in the second half on a header off a corner kick for Hastings. The Broncos took 13 corner kicks compared to one for DWU. The final goal was added late by Fabian Zefferer.

DWU junior goalkeeper Alex Nelson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) made 10 saves, while senior forward Chaz Foss (Rapid City, S.D.) and junior defender Lionel Karyea (Monrovia, Liberia) each put a shot on goal for the Tigers in the loss.

The Tigers finish the 2014 season 8-10-1 overall under sixth-year coach Jeremy Tosaya.

Hastings moves on and will host the second round of the GPAC playoffs against an opponent to be determined.
