Lopez inks four players for 2019 season
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team inked its’ first recruits for the 2019 season, head coach Jose Lopez announced Tuesday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team inked its' first recruits for the 2019 season, head coach Jose Lopez announced Tuesday.
The four recruits consist of Garrett Hanna and Gavin Hanna from Wylie High School in Texas, Rodrigo Vilar from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Andrew Christiansen from Mitchell, S.D.
Garrett Hanna is a midfielder who has been a four-year member of the varsity squad, while tallying 11 goals and 15 assists. He was a two-time midfield MVP honoree and named to the All-District Second Team and All-District First Team once.
Gavin Hanna is a four-time varsity starter at the midfield position as well. He was also named the midfield MVP twice, while being named Honorable Mention twice and All-District First Team once.
Vilar joins the DWU men's soccer program after playing in the defense for three different club teams. He played for Club Atletico Almagro, Club Atletico Huracan and Club Atletico Barracas Central.
Christiansen stays in Mitchell as he will contribute to the defense for the Tigers beginning next season. In his senior season he finished with a goal and two assists and started for Mitchell for three seasons.
"I'm very excited to start the 2019 recruiting class with these four gentleman," Lopez commented. "Rodrigo will help us strengthen our back line, Gavin and Garrett will bring some spice to our midfield and Andrew will provided some depth this fall."
