Three Tigers qualify for NAIA Track and Field National Championships

MITCHELL, S.D. – Three members of the Dakota Wesleyan University track and field teams qualified for the NAIA National Championships over the weekend. Jared Rabenberg (Britton, S.D.), Lydia Gerber (Canton, S.D.) and Claire Stoller (Madison, S.D.) each qualified in their respective events, as DWU hosted the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday in Mitchell.

 Rabenberg broke the facility record in the high jump with a mark of 6-9.5 feet (2.07m), qualifying him for the national meet in the high jump. His mark was also enough for a first-place finish as he finished a GPAC Champion in the high jump.

 In the triple jump, Gerber and Stoller each hit 'B' standards to qualify for the national meet. Gerber took second in the event with a jump of 36-10.5 feet (11.24m), while Stoller placed third with a leap of 36-7 feet (11.15m).

 Gerber also competed in the 60-meter dash and placed fourth with a time of 7.91 seconds, just missing the national qualifying mark.

 In the men's shot put, Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) took seventh after a throw of 48-4 feet (14.73m). In the weight throw, Dawson Kerzman (Dell Rapids, S.D.) took eighth with a toss of 52-8.75 feet (16.07m).

 Lia Guigui (Rapid City, S.D.) competed in the women's high jump as she took fourth place. She finished with a leap of 5-1 feet (1.55m).

 In the women's 1,000-meter run, Mckenna Rogers (Saint Michael, Minn.) finished in 11^th place after a time of 3:16.91 minutes. Justin Sorensen (Vermillion, S.D.) competed in the men's 1,000-meter run and took 14^th with a time of 2:41.72.

 As a team, the DWU women's team finished in eighth place for the conference, as the men's team finished in 11^th place.

 Rabenberg, Gerber and Stoller will compete at the NAIA Track and Field National Championships on March 5-7 in Brookings, S.D.
