Tiger track and field competes at SDSU DII Invitational
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s track and field teams took part in the SDSU DII Invitational on Saturday.
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams took part in the SDSU DII Invitational on Saturday.
On the women's side, freshman Kaylynn Anziano (Rapid City, S.D.) finished 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time 26.91. She followed that up with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.81. In the 600-meter dash, Shailhyn Schweigert (Burke, S.D.) finished ninth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:45.81. Freshmen McKenna Rogers (Saint Michael, Minn.) and Macey Claussen (Howard, S.D.) competed in the 800-meter run and finished in 10th and 18th place, respectively. In the field events, Kristen Jennings (Canton, S.D.) had a toss of 10.68 meters, good for 23rd-place in the shot put, while Heidi Frazee (Gillette, Wyo.) had a 34th-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 9.82 meters, and a 17th-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 12.29 meters.
In the women's triple jump, Kristen Longville (Lake Preston, S.D.) finished in ninth place with a leap of 10.50 meters, while Kamberlyn Lamer (Hartford, S.D.) finished in 10th. Lamer also competed in the long jump and took ninth with a jump of 5.03 meters. In the 3000-meter run, Kelsie King (Mission Viejo, Calif.) brought home a 15th-place finish with a time of 12:29.29.
For the DWU men, freshmen Anthony Fontenot (Stephan, S.D.) finished in 42nd-place in the 200-meter dash in 24.05, while Nathan Bader had a top-50 finish with a time of 24.19. Fontenot also added a 26th-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 53.36. Fellow freshman Rex Schlicht (Woonsocket, S.D.) placed ninth in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:23.36. In the mile, junior Jeremiah Panec (Kensesaw, Neb.) finished in 13th-place in 4:29.29. Jared Rabenberg (Britton, S.D.) competed in the high jump and finished in 11th-place with a jump of 1.80 meters. Jon Harmening (Jackson, Minn.) and Dakota Bodden (Tabor, S.D.) took home eighth and 12th-place, respectively in the triple jump, while Nick Raab (Yankton, S.D.) had competed in the shot put and weight throw. Raab finished in 23rd-place in the shot put with a toss of 12.19-meters and a toss of 11.62-meters, good for 27th-place in the weight throw.
The Tigers compete in the Dennis Young Classic on Friday and Saturday in Storm Lake, Iowa.
