MITCHELL, S.D. – Following one of the best seasons in program history, the Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track & field teams are proud to announce the hiring of Chris Aschemann as the Associate Head Track & Field Coach.
Aschemann coached the throwing events for Campbellsville University, an NAIA institution in Campbellsville, Ky. While with Campbellsville, he coached three All-Conference performers, an indoor conference champion in the weight throw and an NCCAA All-American in the weight throw.
"We couldn't be more excited to add Chris to our track and field staff," Director of Athletics Jon Hart said. "Our program has drastically progressed and grown over the last three years and we can't wait to keep the momentum going with him in this role. He brings a strong background in recruiting and development that will help us reach new heights."
Prior to his work with Campbellsville, Aschemann worked as a track & field graduate assistant for Central Methodist University, an NAIA university in Fayette, Mo. He coached the throwing events for the Eagles, while being responsible for recruiting efforts. Aschemann coached a national champion in the decathlon and coached eight All-Conference performers.
As a student-athlete, Aschemann played football and was a track & field athlete for Olivet Nazarene University. He was named to the MSFA All-Conference Team in football after playing in 44 collegiate games. As a thrower, he was a two-time conference champion in the hammer throw. Aschemann was a nine-time national meet qualifier and an All-American in the discus.
"We are extremely happy to add Chris to our team as he will fit in perfectly with our young staff," Director of Cross-Country and Track & Field Jamen Helton commented. "Chris has a fantastic background in the throws and we are very excited to get him started with our athletes."
