Concordia University '17

 Lurz enters his first season as the Dakota Wesleyan University head men’s and women’s track and field coach. In his first season as the head throwing coach, Lurz saw two athletes land on the NAIA All-American Team for the outdoor season, while one athlete was named NAIA All-American during the indoor season.

 Lurz attended Concordia University in Seward, Neb., for the past five years. With the Bulldogs, he was a four-time NAIA national champion, 17-time NAIA All-American, nine-time GPAC champion and is a two-time USTFCCCA NAIA National and Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year. Lurz finished his career with the school record in both indoor and outdoor shot put and ranks second on the all-time school list for weight throw, hammer and discus. He was named the 2017 GPAC Most Outstanding Performance of the Meet, 2015 NAIA Outdoor National Championships Most Valuable Performer, 2014 GPAC Outdoor Most Valuable Performance of the Meet, 2014 GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, was a member of the 2015 NAIA national championship team and member of three GPAC championship teams.

 Lurz is originally from Rapid City, S.D., and currently resides in Mitchell, S.D.
