Frykbo leads DWU women, Tibbs finishes 8th for men at Doane
CRETE, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University cross country teams were back in action today at the Dean White Invitational hosted by Doane College.
CRETE, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University cross country teams were back in action today at the Dean White Invitational hosted by Doane College.
The Tiger women were led by junior Gabby Frykbo (Sodertalje, Sweden) who placed 13th in the 5k race in a time of 20 minutes, 20 seconds. The meet was her first with DWU. Frykbo is also a junior on the Tiger women's basketball team.
Right behind Frykbo was senior Skylar Forgey (Colome, S.D.) who place 15th and finished with a time of 20:21.63. Freshman Kelsie King (Mission Viejo, Calif.) had a 30th-place finish. Next, was freshman Rachel Buxcel (Murdo, S.D.) who finished 35th.
As a team the women finished in fifth. Doane College won the Dean White Invitational for the women.
DWU men's team was led by sophomore Lane Tibbs (Kenesaw, Neb.) who finished in the top 10. Tibbs completed the 8k course in a time of 27:30.46, crossing the line eighth. Following Tibbs was sophomore Jeremiah Panec (Kenesaw, Neb.) course in 27:35.91 and finished ninth. Freshman Bryce Blank (Rapid City, S.D.) finished in 43rd.
The DWU men did not field enough runners for a team score. Winning the men's team title was Morningside College.
The DWU cross country team will run next at the Briar Cliff Invite Saturday, Oct. 10 in Sioux City, Iowa.
