MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University Head Softball Coach Ed Kieff added another recruit to his 2015 class with the signing of MacKayla Nohr from Box Elder, S.D.
Nohr signed her letter of intent to play for the Tigers this week and will join DWU following her senior season at Douglas High School.
The 5-foot-9 catcher/first baseman plays her high school softball for Douglas and was an All-State Honorable Mention in 2014. She has lettered twice for the Patriots. Nohr plays club softball for the Rapid City Rebels and in 40 games last season she batted .346 with 15 RBIs and three doubles. She finished with a slugging percentage of .385 and an OPS of .842.
Kieff said Nohr will primarily be a catcher for the Tigers after arriving on campus and he sees her adding depth for DWU behind the plate.
"Signing MacKayla adds much needed depth at catcher for us going forward," Kieff said. "She is a strong athlete who will fit well in our system. She's a hard worker in the classroom as well as in the weight room as is evident by her grades in high school. We are excited to have signed MacKayla and are looking forward to having her as part of the program over the next four years."
Nohr is a member of the National Honor Society and is on the Honor Roll at Douglas High School. She is the daughter of Jason and Karen Nohr and is undecided about her major at DWU. Nohr is the third member of the 2015 Tiger recruiting class.
