No. 10 Morningside blanks Tiger softball
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Offense was hard to come by on Thursday as No. 10 Morningside College swept the Dakota Wesleyan University softball team in Great Plains Athletic Conference action 10-3 and 3-0 in Sioux City, Iowa.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Offense was hard to come by on Thursday as No. 10 Morningside College swept the Dakota Wesleyan University softball team in Great Plains Athletic Conference action 10-3 and 3-0 in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Tigers were held to just one hit in the first game, when Amber Budmark (Sacramento, Calif.) tallied a three-run home run in the top of the first. However, the Mustang offense went to work to keep the Tigers at bay for the rest of the game.
Sierra Haage took the loss on the mound after tossing six innings, allowing five earned runs off 12 hits, while striking out one and walking a batter.
Morningside (33-8, 15-3 GPAC) kept the Tigers off the scoreboard in Game Two, however senior pitcher Lorissa Loeppky (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) kept DWU in striking distance. Loeppky ultimately took the loss after tossing six innings, allowing two earned runs off five hits, while striking out five and walking three.
Budmark and Karly Severance (Las Vegas, Nev.) tallied the lone two hits in the loss.
The Tigers (17-32, 7-11 GPAC) welcome the College of Saint Mary for a GPAC doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday for Senior Day in Mitchell, S.D.
