Burns inks with DWU women’s basketball
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball team has signed its’ latest recruit for the 2019-20 in Ava Burns from Brookings, S.D., the DWU Athletic Department announced Thursday.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's basketball team has signed its' latest recruit for the 2019-20 season in Ava Burns from Brookings, S.D., the DWU Athletic Department announced Thursday.
Burns is a two-year starter for the Bobcats and a three-year participant. In her junior season, Burns averaged 37.5 percent shooting from the field, 30.9 percent from 3-point range and 81.5 percent from the free-throw line.
The Brookings, S.D., native is a three-time varsity scholar in all sports. She was named the Team Most Improved Player from 2015-17.
She is also a member of the National Honor Society. Along with girls' basketball, she competed in soccer for three years and was a two-year starter.
Burns plans to major in elementary education and is the daughter of Tim and Missy Burns.
