MITCHELL, S.D. – Two Mitchell, S.D., talents inked with the Dakota Wesleyan University women's golf team for the 2018-19 season in Ashley Zimmer and Delilah Brinker, women's head golf coach Tom Hoek announced Wednesday.
Zimmer medaled at the Eastern South Dakota Tournament in 2017 after carding a 91. She also placed 24th at the SDHSAA State Tournament with rounds of 84 and 86.
She was a three-year starter for Mitchell High School and competed in golf for six years. She was a member of the honor roll in every quarter from her freshman year to her senior year.
"It's exciting to add local talent and products of Mitchell golf to our program," Hoek said.
Zimmer is the daughter of Brian and Roxane Zimmer and plans to major in elementary and special education.
Brinker tallied a stroke average of 97 during her junior season with Mitchell and carded her best round of 91. She also competed in the Lakeview Tournament in Mitchell.
"Both individuals will make positive impressions on our campus and golf program," Hoek mentioned.
Brinker is the daughter of Greg Hofer and Rebecca Stone and plans to major in accounting at DWU.
"Ashley and Delilah are incredible young ladies," Hoek said. "They will add depth to a very competitive class of 2018."
