Norton notches first career win at Hastings Open

HASTINGS, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team competed in the Hastings Open on Saturday in Hastings, Neb.

 Freshman Bailey Norton (Deadwood, S.D.) returned to Mitchell with two victories under his belt. Norton defeated Jorge Hernandez of Nebraska Wesleyan University, 6-4 for his first win as a Tiger. Later in the afternoon, Norton went on to defeat Tyrrell Turner of Nebraska Wesleyan University by fall at the 3:54 mark.

 Tanner Wernsman (Arapahoe, Neb.) also picked up two victories, winning by fall over Lane White of Labette Community College, while defeating Zechariah Westergaard by fall. Norton and Wernsman weren't the only Tigers that tallied two victories on Saturday, as Matt Schirado (Harrisburg, S.D.) defeated Andy Allyn of Bethany College by fall and Wyatt Somsen of Northeastern Junior College by fall.

 The Tigers return to action at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Duals at 9 a.m. Saturday in Kearney, Neb.
