Tigers compete in DWU Open
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling squad competed against some of the premiere competition in the region on Saturday at the DWU Open at the DWU/Avera Health and Wellness Complex in Mitchell.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling squad competed against some of the premiere competition in the region on Saturday at the DWU Open at the DWU/Avera Health and Wellness Complex in Mitchell.
Stas Sutera (Tyndall, S.D.) won his first match by decision over Edwin Youngdell of Waldorf and later defeated Stuart Brandt of Jamestown by decision, 6-1.
Brandon Scharmer (Rush City, Minn.) won his second match of the day by fall, but lost his final match by decision. Patrick West (Everett, Wash.) won by fall in his second match before falling to Dylan Schuck of Augustana University by fall.
Alex Osborne (Vermillion, S.D.) won by fall in his second match over Collin Campbell of Briar Cliff University before losing his final match of the day. Tanner Wernsman (Arapahoe, Neb.) won his first match of the day with a 7-5 decision before dropping his last two.
After losing his first matchup of the day, Zechariah Westergaard (Vermillion, S.D.) won two straight by fall and then in sudden victory. Nick Woslum (Palmdale, Calif.) won his second match of the day by decision, 9-3, before falling to Adam Ball of Midland University.
The Tigers hit the road as they face Southwest Minnesota State University at 7 p.m. Thursday in Marshall, Minn.
