MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team added a significant piece to the team for the 2018-19 season with the signing of Paul Lauck, head wrestling coach Casey Mouw announced Monday.
Lauck completed a decorated career at McCook Central-Montrose after taking first at the South Dakota Class 'B' State Wrestling Tournament a season ago. The Salem, S.D., native was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Class 'B' Tournament thanks to his efforts on the mat, helping his team to an eighth-place finish.
"We are very excited to welcome Paul to the DWU wrestling family," Mouw said. "He brings an uncommon toughness and he is a competitor through and through. We expect him to have a great impact on this program."
Along with his accolades at the state wrestling tournament, Lauck was named the Class 'B' Wrestler of the Year. He finished the season with the most pins on his team and was named MVP of his team. During his sophomore season, Lauck took second place at the state wrestling tournament.
Lauck has been a five-year starter and six-time letterwinner in wrestling. He also competed in football for four seasons and track and field for three years.
He is the son of Daniel and Sharon Lauck.
