Urban guides Tigers at Jamestown Open

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling squad opened the 2018-19 season at the University of Jamestown Open Saturday in Jamestown, N.D.
Sophomore Marcus Urban (Plankinton, S.D.) led the way for the Tigers in the 157-pound weight class. Urban started the day with a 9-0 major decision victory. In his next match, Urban pinned his opponent to move onto the quarterfinals.
After winning by technical fall, Urban came from a 4-1 deficit in the semifinals to pin his opponent and move onto the finals. In the final match, Urban gave up a takedown to fall 7-5 by sudden victory.
Seth Caro (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) gave up a fall in his first-round match and withdrew from the tournament. In the 149-pound weight class Mitch Messersmith (Lennox, S.D.) lost his first-round matchup, 5-0. He came back to win in the consolation round by fall but lost by technical fall in his next match.
Chris Wheeler (Palmdale, Calif.) lost by fall in the first round of the 165-pound weight class. He lost again in the next round by technical fall.
The Tigers come home to host Concordia University at 7 p.m. Friday in Mitchell, S.D.
