DWU competes at UNK Open
KEARNEY, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling squad competed against some of the nation’s top competition at the NCAA Division II level at the UNK Younes Hospitality Open on Saturday in Kearney, Neb.
KEARNEY, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling squad competed against some of the nation's top competition at the NCAA Division II level at the UNK Younes Hospitality Open on Saturday in Kearney, Neb.
Marcus Urban (Plankinton, S.D.) kicked off the day with a win by a 7-3 decision. He won his next match by a 12-5 decision to move onto the next round.
In the third round, Urban fell to Preston Renner of Chadron State University in a 7-6 decision. Urban came back to win his next two matches by fall. However, his day concluded with a 12-8 loss to Aiden Funk of Colorado School of Mines.
Cole Halouska (Worthing, S.D.) lost his opening match of the day to Trevor Singleton of CSU-Pueblo in a 6-4 decision. Halouska won his next match versus Dimarrian Thomas of Ottawa University in a 9-4 decision. But his day finished with a 5-3 loss in the following round.
Freshman Carter Max (Mitchell, S.D.) won his first two matches of the day with a fall in the first period of his first match and an 11-2 major decision in his second match. Max lost his final two matches of the day in the 197-pound weight class.
The Tigers compete next at the Doane Open on Saturday Dec. 7 in Crete, Neb.
