Bio

Mouw enters his third season as the DWU head wrestling coach returning the program to conference and national prominence. Under his direction, he has molded and developed multiple conference qualifiers including two-time, All-GPAC Second Team wrestler Marcus Urban.

Urban finished second and third at the GPAC Championships in 2020 and 2019, respectively. In his junior campaign, he qualified for the NAIA National Championships as a wild card nomination and was later tabbed to the NWCA Scholar All-American Team.

 Mouw brings a wide range of wrestling and coaching experience to DWU, including his most recent stint at Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School. While at Sioux Falls Roosevelt, he worked closely with some of the top finishers at the state wrestling tournaments. He worked primarily with upper-weight wrestlers from the 170-pound weight class to the 285-pound weight class.

 Prior to coaching at Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Mouw was a strength and conditioning coach for the University of Northern Iowa Wrestling team while earning his Master's Degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science. He implemented preseason strength and conditioning programs for the wrestling program, while also creating a competitive training environment amongst the team in preparation to the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

 The Sioux Center, Iowa, native attended the United States Military Academy in 2006, while being a member of the Army wrestling team for one season. In 2007, he transferred to Augustana University in Sioux Falls, where he received his Bachelor's in fitness management and was a three-year member of a wrestling team that was the 2009-10 runner-up at the NCAA Division II National Tournament. During that time, he also assisted in coaching various Sioux Falls area prep wrestlers, including the 2008 South Dakota Jr. National dual team.

 Outside of wrestling, Mouw has a diverse background in strength and conditioning. He began his business called, 605 Sports Performance in 2014, which is still thriving today. The business assessed sports acceleration development and training for 12-18 year old athletes. He taught the students and athletes the fundamental drills for speed, agility, strength and power development.

 In 2011, Mouw became a full-time head coach at CrossFit of Sioux Falls. He has wrote various strength curriculums for advanced and specialized athletes, including challenges and seminars for members pertaining to nutrition and lifestyle improvements. Mouw created a general fitness template which is now followed by a membership of over 200 people, while also creating a four-week introduction to the CrossFit program. He also performed multiple clinics focusing on Olympic weightlifting, while interning with CrossFit's Olympic weightlifting Coaches Certification Seminar staff.

 Mouw has certifications as a CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer and a CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Coach.
