Kevin Kelly is entering his fifth season with the Tiger wrestling program under fourth-year head coach Nick Hutcheson. This will be Kelly’s seventh season coaching wrestling at the college level.
Last season, Kelly helped Hutcheson lead the Tigers to a victory against York College at the Midwest Duals.
Kelly started out as a volunteer coach for the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits in 2011. Since the 2012 season, Kelly has been with the Tigers and has coached five All-Americans.
Before switching his role to coaching, Kelly was a three-time letterwinner for the Jackrabbits and earned Western Regional Coaches Honor Roll/All-Academic team in 2010-11. Prior to wrestling at South Dakota State, Kelly wrestled at Iowa Central Community College, where he earned Academic All-American status and was on the 2008 National Championship team.
Kelly earned an associate’s degree from Iowa Central Community College and graduated from South Dakota State with a bachelor’s in physical education and a minor in health. In 2014, he completed his master’s at Dakota Wesleyan University in educational policy and administration.
