Glasgow signs Forsman twins to kick off 2015 class

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team surpassed expectations under first-year Head Coach Clayson Glasgow in 2014, making the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals after being picked to finish last in the league.

Glasgow is getting ready for the next Tiger soccer season with his first two signings of the 2015 class. Senior twins Brittany and Brooke Forsman signed national letters of intent to play soccer at DWU next season, Glasgow announced Monday.

"I'm super excited to have both twins join our family here at Dakota Wesleyan University," Glasgow said. "These young ladies are coming from a very well established high school soccer program. Lincoln is the defending state soccer champions, therefore these ladies know what it takes to compete and be successful.

The Sioux Falls Lincoln senior midfielders helped guide the Patriots to the 2014 South Dakota State Championship earlier this year, which was played at the future home for the sisters, the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.

Brittany was named to the Most Valuable Midfielder for the Patriots this season, the first for sanctioned high school soccer at Sioux Falls Lincoln.

"I chose Dakota Wesleyan University based on the community atmosphere and class sizes," Brittany said. "Being one of 20 students rather than one of 50 holds high importance to me. That along with the opportunity to play on a soccer team that appears to be well bonded with a group of committed ladies finalized my decision to attend DWU next fall."

Brooke was awarded the Patriot Pride honor after her senior season for Sioux Falls Lincoln.

"Dakota Wesleyan University seemed like the best fit for me," Brooke said. "The team seems like a really great group of girls, and the school has everything I'm looking for with its tight-knit community and nursing program. I'm excited to attend DWU as both as athlete and a student next fall."

Both players excel on the field as well as in the classroom. Both are members of the National Honor Society and are on the Honor Roll at Sioux Falls Lincoln. In addition to playing for the Patriots, the twins played for the Dakota Alliance and the KC Select club teams.

The twins are the daughters of Steven and Lori Forsman. Brooke plans to major in nursing at DWU, while Brittany is undecided.

"Brittany and Brooke will definitely be positive factor for what we trying to build both on and off the field," Glasgow said. "I expect amazing things from these two young women here at DWU. The school and our soccer team will benefit from their knowledge and experience immensely."
