DWU women fall short in 2-1 loss to Dordt

The Tigers cut a 2-0 deficit in half with 29 minutes to play, but failed to get the equalizer in a 2-1 loss to the Defenders. The loss drops DWU to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the GPAC.
The score remained tied at zero 11 minutes into the second half when Natalie Sakuma scored her seventh goal of the season to give Dordt (6-3, 1-1 GPAC) the lead. The Defenders doubled their lead six minutes later when Nicole Postman took a feed from Marissa LeDuc and found the back of the net.
DWU got back into the game when freshman Brittany Forsman (Sioux Falls, S.D.) put a shot over the head of the Dordt goalkeeper from a sharp angle to cut the Defender lead to 2-1. The Tigers had a couple of chances late, but Dordt held on for the win.
Junior goalkeeper Kira Miller (Preston, S.D.) kept the Tigers in the game with 10 saves.
DWU continues GPAC action against No. 22 Hastings College at 5 p.m. Saturday in Hastings, Neb.
