Tigers set multiple records at SDSU Holiday Invite
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed against NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA competition at the SDSU Holiday Invite and came away with broken records Friday and Saturday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D.
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams competed against NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA competition at the SDSU Holiday Invite and came away with broken records Friday and Saturday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D.
Senior Kamber Lamer (Hartford, S.D.) had a record-setting day in the Pentathlon. In the events of the Pentathlon, she broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.19 seconds. She also broke a program record in the long jump with a mark of 18-1.5 feet and set a personal record in the high jump after a leap of 5-2.5.
Lamer also competed in the shot put and the 800-meter run en route to a second-place finish in the Pentathlon with 3,400 points and qualifying for the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Meet, only behind the University of Minnesota's Ashley Ramacher.
Jared Rabenberg (Britton, S.D.) qualified for the national indoor meet following his performance in the high jump. The junior tallied a mark of 6-6.75 in the high jump on his way to a sixth-place finish. He also came in 10th in the long jump following a jump of 21-1.25.
Senior Tyson Jenkins (Clark, S.D.) qualified for the national indoor meet in the shot put with a toss of 53-2.25 as he took sixth place and now sits in third on the all-time school top-10 list in the shot put.
Matthew Campbell (Gregory, S.D.) also jumped into the all-time record books in the shot put. He finished in 10th place in the meet with a throw of 52-1, good for fourth on the DWU all-time top-10 list. Campbell also broke the school record in the weight throw after a toss of 56-1, good for 13th in the meet.
Freshmen Christopher Zanotto (Blair, Neb.) and Calob Jones (Aberdeen, S.D.) joined the DWU all-time top-10 list with throws of 45-3 and 45-2.5, respectively. Zanotto now sits in eighth, while Jones is in ninth on the top-10 list.
Austin Hughes (Douglas, S.D.) finished the 60-meter dash in 7.36, on his way to an eighth-place finish. In the 3,000-meter run, Brendan Langbehn (Lennox, S.D.) set a personal record with a time of 9:37.81 minutes.
In the mile run, Samantha Schuyler (Winner, S.D.) set a personal record and joined the all-time top-10 list with a time of 5:39.72. Mckenna Rogers (Saint Michael, Minn.) set a personal record and also joined the all-time top-10 list in the mile run with a time of 5:40.86.
In her first ever indoor track meet, Mikaela Stofferahn (Dell Rapids, S.D.) finished the shot put with a toss of 41-6.5, putting her in third on the all-time top-10 list. Morgan Taft (Norris, S.D.) broke the school record in the weight throw with a throw of 50-2.75, while Madison Witte (Huron, S.D.) set a personal record in the weight throw with a toss of 45-11.75.
Claire Stoller (Madison, S.D.) and Lydia Gerber (Canton, S.D.) set personal records in the triple jump. Stoller took 11th with a jump of 35-2, while Gerber finished in 12th following a leap of 35-1.25.
The Tigers are next in action at the Dordt College Open on Jan. 12 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
