Schuyler, Gerber shine for DWU at Sioux City Relays
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – After the Sioux City Relays was condensed to a single day, Samantha Schuyler (Winner, S.D.) and Lydia Gerber (Canton, S.D.) each tallied a first-place finish in their respective competitions for the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s track & field teams Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – After the Sioux City Relays was condensed to a single day, Samantha Schuyler (Winner, S.D.) and Lydia Gerber (Canton, S.D.) each tallied a first-place finish in their respective competitions for the Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track & field teams Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
Schuyler took first in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:17.61 minutes, while Gerber notched first place in the triple jump with a leap of 35-9.5 feet. Not far behind Gerber was Clair Stoller (Madison, S.D.) who tallied a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 34-1.25.
Gerber also took fourth in the long jump with a finish of 15-11.75, while Stoller took ninth with a jump of 15-7.5. Mikaela Stofferahn (Dell Rapids, S.D.) led the women throwers as she took third in the discus with a mark of 142-11. She also took fifth in the shot put with a throw of 40-4.75, as Madison Witte (Huron, S.D.) finished in sixth with a toss of 40-4.
Jared Rabenberg (Britton, S.D.) tallied a third-place finish in the high jump following a jump of 6-3.5. In the long jump, Mason Small (Huron, S.D.) took fifth with a mark of 20-7, while he finished in third place in the triple jump after a leap of 41-1.75.
Tyson Jenkins (Clark, S.D.) finished in second in the shot put following a toss of 54-4.5, as Calob Jones (Aberdeen, S.D.) took ninth with a throw of 47-1.5. Other throwers who competed include Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.), Nick Raab (Yankton, S.D.), Christopher Zanotto (Blair, Neb.), Matthew Campbell (Gregory, S.D.) and Dawson Kerzman (Dell Rapids, S.D.).
Rex Schlicht (Woonsocket, S.D.) finished with a 10th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles following a time of 59.23 seconds.
In the women's 100-meter hurdles, Emily McDonald (Crooks, S.D.) took ninth with a time of 17.2. Lia Guigui (Rapid City, S.D.) tallied a sixth-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 4-11.75. In the long jump, Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) came in 11th, while freshman Sage Pulse (Kimball, S.D.) took 12th.
The DWU track & field teams compete next at the Red Raider Open on Wednesday and Thursday in Orange City, Iowa.
