Jenkins provisionally qualifies as DWU competes at Friends Spring Open
WICHITA, Kan. – Tyson Jenkins (Clark, S.D.) provisionally qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships after his performance in the shot put, as the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Friends Track Spring Open Sunday in Wichita, Kan.
WICHITA, Kan. – Tyson Jenkins (Clark, S.D.) provisionally qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships after his performance in the shot put, as the Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Friends Track Spring Open Sunday in Wichita, Kan.
Jenkins provisionally qualified after taking first in the shot put with a mark of 51-7.25 feet. He also took fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 152-7.
Matthew Campbell (Gregory, S.D.) took second in the shot put with a throw of 47-5.25 feet, while taking home a fourth-place finish in the discus after a throw of 136-6. Campbell also finished in 10th in the hammer throw with a mark of 122-6. Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) took third in the shot put after a toss of 46-6 and took eighth in the hammer throw with a throw of 124-2.
Dawson Kerzman (Dell Rapids, S.D.) was the fourth Tiger to place in the top-10 in the shot put with an eighth-place finish with a throw of 39-9.25 feet. He also took eighth in the discus after a toss of 124-10. Nick Raab (Yankton, S.D.) finished in 10th in the discus with a throw of 119-11.
For the women's throwing events, Morgan Taft (Norris, S.D.) led the way in the hammer throw with an eighth-place finish after a throw of 128-10. Meghan Travis (Minneota, Minn.) competed in the javelin throw and finished in eighth after a mark of 87-5 feet. Madison Witte (Huron, S.D.) took 11th in the shot put with a toss of 36-5.75.
Lindsey Hale (Yankton, S.D.) took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16-3, while taking sixth in the triple jump with a jump of 33-0.5. Kristen Longville (Lake Preston, S.D.) finished with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump after a mark of 33-6.5. Claire Stoller (Madison, S.D.) finished in fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 33-6.5, while taking 10th in the long jump after a leap of 14-6.5.
Samantha Schuyler (Winner, S.D.) finished in sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:25.93 minutes, while Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished in seventh in the long jump after a jump of 15-11.5 feet.
Jared Rabenberg (Britton, S.D.) finished in second place in the high jump with a jump of 6-2.75, as Lane Tibbs (Kenesaw, Neb.) finished in second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:28.05.
In the long jump, Tiegen Priebe (Chamberlain, S.D.) grabbed seventh place after a jump of 20-0.25, while finishing in fourth in the triple jump after a leap of 40-11.5.
Rex Schlicht (Woonsocket S.D.) took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.61 seconds. In the 110-meter hurdles, Jon Harmening (Jackson, Minn.) finished in fifth with a time of 16.48, while Dakota Bodden (Tabor, S.D.) took sixth in 16.50.
DWU will compete at the Sioux City Relays on Friday and Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
