MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team returned to the court to take on the No. 4 team in the country, Midland University Saturday at the Christen Family Athletic Center.
The Warriors stayed undefeated on the season, topping the Tigers in three sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18. The loss drops DWU to 9-8 overall and 1-4 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
The Tigers relied heavily on junior Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) with junior Sammy Fluck out with an injury. Tadlock had a match-high 13 kills to go along with seven digs. Junior Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) added eight kills, while junior Shelbie Budmayr (Belle Fourche, S.D.) picked up six to go along with a solo block.
Senior Maggie Stehly (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and junior Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) each picked up nine digs, while junior Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) had 26 assists.
The Warriors got 12 kills from K.C. Heimann, while Darcy Barry had a match-high 15 digs.
The Tigers continue GPAC play against instate rival Mount Marty College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mitchell, S.D.
