Tadlock’s 28 kills not enough for Tigers in loss to Trojans

MADISON, S.D. – Senior outside hitter Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) has put together some impressive games in 2015, but she shined even brighter against Dakota State University in a nonconference matchup for the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team Tuesday in Madison, S.D.

Tadlock posted a career-high 28 kills, but the performance was not enough as the Tigers fell to the Trojans in five sets. The loss drops DWU to 11-17 overall and the line score was 25-19, 24-26, 25-20, 28-30, 15-11.

The Tigers fought hard to win the second and fourth sets, including staving off several match points to force a fifth. Tadlock added 12 digs to finish with a double-double in the loss.

With a match-high 32 digs, senior Libero Maggie Stehly (Sioux Falls, S.D.) moved into fourth place on the DWU all-time dig list with 1,596, passing Pam Horner (2000-03). Junior Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) also finished with a double-double including 17 kills and 20 digs, while junior Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) added 16 kills.

DWU's setting combo of juniors Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) and Emily Pengilly (Watertown, S.D.) finished with 31 and 29 assists, respectively, while junior Sammy Fluck (Becker, Minn.) picked up five total blocks.

DWU returns to Great Plains Athletic Conference action in the final home game of the season for the Tigers against No. 12 Northwestern College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.
