OMAHA, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team finished its weekend stay in Omaha, Neb., with a split on day two of the College of Saint Mary Tournament Saturday.
The Tigers fell to Mount Mercy University in five sets to start the day, 25-21, 21-25, 25-14, 17-25, 18-16, before closing the event with a four-set win over William Penn University, 20-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-18. The split moves DWU to 9-3 overall this season.
Against MMU, senior Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) recorded 26 kills and 10 digs for a double-double, while adding six block assists. Three other Tigers finished with double-digit kills, including senior Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) with 11, while junior Katie Vetch (Rapid City, S.D.) and freshman Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) each added 10.
Defensively, the Tigers were led by senior Libero Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) with 25 digs, while freshman Mallory Cooper (Orchard, Neb.) added 13 digs. Senior setter Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) finished with 53 assists in the loss.
In the win over WPU, Tadlock led the Tigers in kills with 20, while Misiaszek added 10 and Van Epps posted 34 assists. Spence recorded 19 digs, while Vetch was a force at the net with six block assists.
DWU went 3-1 on the weekend, while Tadlock was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Tigers return home for a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup against Dordt College at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D.
