MITCHELL, S.D. – Things are moving in the right direction for the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team, as the Tigers are off to a 9-3 start. DWU went 4-2 last week including a win over rival Dakota State University on the road.
The Tiger offense was led by senior outside hitter Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.), with 120 kills in the six games including 27 against the Trojans and 26 in a loss to Mount Mercy University. She also posted four double-doubles, finishing four games last week with at least 10 digs.
For her efforts, Tadlock has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday. The award is the first for Tadlock in her three-year career and the first for a DWU volleyball player at any position since Dena Kopfman, the Tigers' all-time digs leader, took home GPAC Libero of the Week in Oct., 2008.
Tadlock is approaching a career milestone, as she sits just six kills shy of 1,000 for her career. Tadlock will join Pam Horner as the only two Tigers to have 1,000-career kills and 500-career digs. Tadlock has 615 career digs.
The Tigers return to GPAC play against No. 14 Dordt College at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D.
