Tadlock records 1,000th kill, DWU falls to No. 14 Dordt
MITCHELL, S.D. – The No. 14 Dordt College Defenders came away with a three-set win over the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team Tuesday night at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D., while one Tiger made history.
MITCHELL, S.D. – The No. 14 Dordt College Defenders came away with a three-set win over the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team Tuesday night at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D., while one Tiger made history.
For the Tigers, Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) recorded her 1,000th career kill, becoming the second Tiger in program history to record 1,000 kills and 500 digs in a career, joining Tiger great Pam Horner. Tadlock was also named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week, the first DWU volleyball player to win a weekly conference honor in nearly eight years.
In set one, Dordt raced to a quick 14-9 lead and never looked back, defeating the Tigers 25-13. Jumping out to a 6-3 lead in set two, the Tigers quickly saw their lead dwindle as Dordt took the set 25-22. DWU held with the Defenders in set three and began to rally back from a 23-15 deficit. The Tigers tallied four unanswered points, but Dordt closed take the final set, 25-21. The loss drops DWU to 9-4 overall and 1-2 in the GPAC.
Tadlock finished with 14 kills, while Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.), who joined the DWU 500-kill club last weekend, added seven kills. Freshman Sydney Fritz (Winner, S.D.) as she saw extended action with the varsity action. Senior Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) led the Tiger defense with 17 digs, while senior Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) added a team-high 27 assists.
DWU (9-4, 1-2 GPAC) travels to take on Presentation College at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Aberdeen, S.D.
